Mani Ratnam’s next with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor?

You heard it right! If rumours are to be believed, Kareena Kapoor andAamir Khan will be seen together another time after their last flickTalaash.
The director who is always hailed for his midas touch, Mani Ratnam, will be handling the project. The filmmaker’s last two movies,Raavanan(Raavan in Hindi) andKadal failed to set the box office on fire. With critics slamming his films, the director seems to be trying to get back the lost aura.
What is curious is that instead of going for a new project, Mani Ratnam is looking into an old project that was shelved. Lajjo, a film set during the era of partition was announced a few years ago. However, it was cancelled due to the skyrocketing budget. The film was to star Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan in the lead roles while the lyrics were to be penned by Gulzar. Music maestro A.R.Rahman was to render the music.
While still onboard the film, Kareena Kapoor had said, “I will be too happy. Giggly, girlie, Barbie doll roles don’t bring out the actor in me. I want to be challenged. I can’t play the singing, dancing mannequin any more. I’ve realised that as an actor, playing varied roles is what I enjoy the most. I’m starving for good roles. My characters in RA.One and Saif Ali Khan’s home production Agent Vinod are powerful roles.” Well, RA.One and Agent Vinod did not go as planned, did they?
The film which was originally planned in 2006, was rumoured to be revived in 2011 as well. However, naysayers are saying that the film will not see the light of the day this time as well. But what is reay going to happen only the team knows!
We think if budget is the only issue, it shouldn’t be a problem! As we all know whatever the budget is, it’s common place now to cross the ₹100crore mark now! Moreover, Aamir Khan has done it more than once!
Most of us look forward to this project. More so, because of the people involved in the project! Don’t we?
